Mike Neubert
Mike qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1990 and in 1993, after his national service, began working in the healthcare industry. From 1994 Mike was a shareholder and subsequently CEO of Providence Health Care Risk Managers, a managed care and administration company. In 2013 Metropolitan Health bought Providence and consequently Mike now works for Momentum Health.

Dr. Rolan Christian
Rolan is an experienced Information, Communication and Technology (ICT) professional who works across various business domains. He has experience in multiple industries, such as telecommunications, financial services, healthcare, Internet-based businesses and management consulting. He was previously with Afrocentric / Medscheme where he was the GM for the Digital Division (under Helios). In this role he led extensive teams across the full IT spectrum. He was also instrumental in providing expertise into the CareConnect IT task team, whilst with Afrocentric. His focus areas include leadership, business strategy, digital enablement, product development and product commercialization. He is also strong within the solution architecture, software development management and technology management domains. He has successfully led various organizations, teams and projects (both locally and internationally). Rolan holds the following academic qualifications:

Sudash Raghubir
Following 17 years of diverse and increasingly high-ranking expertise gained in service of South Africa’s electricity public utility, Sudash joined the management team of Netcare, the largest provider of private healthcare in South Africa and the UK in 2012.
At Netcare, he leads a highly successful business strategy that ensures smooth operation of service delivery and management for all IT customers, while promoting continuous productivity improvement, service quality and customer satisfaction. Sudash has had over two decades of leadership experience in the Energy and Healthcare industries.

Dr Mike Marshall
Dr Mike Marshall joined Medscheme in 2005 as a manager responsible for medical advisors in the hospital benefit management space. He then progressed to be the General Manager responsible for establishing and maintaining provider networks. He went on to assume a business development role to assist Afrocentric to evaluate new business and potential acquisitions. Mike is currently an Executive Manager in Medscheme responsible for research and product development in the managed care space.

Corné Heyns
Corné Heyns joined the Mediclinic group in 2004 as the manager responsible for new business opportunities for Mediclinic Southern Africa. His role later expanded to include support for international business opportunities, corporate finance activities and investor relations for the group. In 2014 he was appointed as the manager of business performance for Mediclinic Southern Africa; and subsequently as the Chief Strategy Officer and member of the Executive Committee of Mediclinic Southern Africa in 2017.

Matthew Prior
After holding various positions in the UK and US, Matthew joined the Life Healthcare Group in 2002 in the information management division, where he was responsible for the development of the data warehouse, business intelligence and pricing models. He moved across to the funder division in 2007 and was later appointed to the Funder Relations and Health Policy Executive role. He also serves on the board of HASA. Matthew was appointed to the role of Chief Information Officer – South Africa in July 2020.

Travis Dewing
Travis Dewing is a Healthcare technology professional with 25 years’ experience in healthcare information technology. After completing his studies in Information Technology in 1994 he started his career working in Expert Systems on a Healthcare diagnosis platform. He then joined Netcare and progressed to the position of Group CIO in 2011.
Travis has led the implementation of electronic medical records across all Netcare divisions for the past two years. He believes that technology and digitisation will continue to add significant, tangible and differentiating value in Healthcare.
“Healthcare organisations have the ability to digitise and enhance embedded manual processes more so than most other industries. Digital healthcare allows us the opportunity to improve the quality of care and reduce associated costs in the provision of care. Our strategic technology vision is to further enable digitisation and empower reliable data collation to enhance the stakeholder(s) experience”.

Dr. Boshoff Steenekamp
Dr. Boshoff Steenekamp has worked as a medial officer, epidemiologist, Registrar in pathology and Regional Head for the Department of Health. Between 2005 and 2013 Boshoff worked at the Council for Medical Schemes where he worked on the REF and the PMB review. Boshoff is currently Strategic Projects Manager at MMI Holdings.

Dr Kim Smith
Dr Kim Smith has a keen interest in health care technology and its impact and influence on patient outcomes. She is currently the Digital Health and Clinical informatics manager for Mediclinic Southern Africa and responsible for the teams overseeing the assessment, design and implementation of digital health products, along with management of health information and clinical coding. Within this capability she has been involved in clinical performance measurement and the building of a number of clinical outcomes databases.
Kim has been a committee member of the Remedi Medical Advisory Committee (MAC) since 2017. She also sits on the registry and clinical advisory boards of the HQA and has been elected to join the HQA Board of Directors from November 2022.
Kim completed her MBCHB at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal and after working for a number of years in clinical medicine, predominantly in Paediatrics and Emergency Medicine, then completed a Masters of Business Administration at the University of Cape Town and Duke University Fuqua School of Business. She further completed a Certificate in Safety, Quality, Informatics and Leadership through Harvard University in 2019.

Avsharn Bachoo (PhD)
Avsharn is an experienced CIO specialising in digital transformation, software development, cloud computing, data analytics and DevOps. He has implemented cutting-edge innovations at major banks, insurers and airlines, working with tech giants such as IBM, Microsoft and Google. He holds a PhD in Systems Architecture and has published pioneering research in international scientific journals. He is currently the Technology Director for the Afrocentric Group and is responsible for Afrocentric Group’s IT Strategy, Digital Transformation, the Project Management Office, IT Operations, Infrastructure, Enterprise Applications, and Cybersecurity.

Lebogang Semono (PhD)
Lebogang holds a Bachelor of Commerce and an Honours degree in Accounting from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal. She qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2010. She also holds a Master in Commerce (Taxation) degree from the University of Pretoria and a Master in Business Administration (Health Care Leadership) degree from the University of Stellenbosch Business School. Lebogang joined Life Healthcare from Netcare Limited where she was the Financial Director of the Primary Healthcare Division. Lebogang has varied industry experience from the audit and advisory, mining, listed property and healthcare sectors, with over 14 years of finance, accounting and audit experience, including operational finance management and optimization.
