How secure is my information? Confidentiality and security of information are paramount to the CareConnect HIE and have been built into the system’s architecture. To ensure that information remains safe and secure, CareConnect complies with the most stringent local and, where applicable, international laws governing privacy of information.

Electronic Health Iinformation Exchange (HIE) is the exchange of electronic data between data providers and authorized users. It enables clinicians, nurses, pharmacists and other health care providers to access a patient’s vital medical information when appropriate. The HIE is therefore a hub through which information flows from one authorised user to another.

CareConnect is a registered non-profit company (NPC), founded collectively by private healthcare funders and healthcare providers for the benefit of patients and other stakeholders within the South African health system.
